Expedia Group has appointed Derek Andersen as its new Chief Financial Officer, bringing a veteran of high-growth consumer platforms to the Seattle-based travel giant. Andersen, who most recently served as the CFO of Snap, officially assumes the role on May 11, 2026. He succeeds Scott Schenkel, who is credited with strengthening the company's financial foundation and expanding margins over the last 16 months.
The appointment comes as Expedia Group continues to pivot its strategy toward its global travel marketplace and B2B business segments. CEO Ariane Gorin emphasized that Andersen's deep understanding of technology-driven businesses will be critical as the company seeks to deliver sustainable long-term growth and further margin expansion. Andersen's track record includes significant leadership tenures at both Amazon and Fox Interactive Media, providing him with a broad perspective on scaling digital media and e-commerce operations.
Based in Seattle, Andersen will be tasked with partnering across the leadership team to advance shareholder value and innovate within the industry's increasingly competitive B2B space. "The company has built strong assets... and is well-positioned to shape the future of travel," Andersen said of the move.
