Sean Burke has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of CoBank, a cooperative bank that provides services to Farm Credit organizations, rural infrastructure providers, and agribusinesses across the United States. His appointment will be effective from July 16, 2024. At Barclays, he was a Managing Director and co-Head of North American Banks, bringing with him over 25 years of banking and leadership expertise. He managed investment banking services, including advice on capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and other business dealings. Burke has previously held prominent roles at RBC Capital Markets, Citigroup, and Lehman Brothers in addition to serving as Chief Financial Officer of Investors Bancorp. With a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Northwestern University, he started his career in public accounting with Ernst and Young.
Burke will head CoBank's Finance Group as CFO, managing treasury, accounting, tax, capital planning, financial planning and analysis, and financial reporting. He will be a member of the Management Executive Committee and directly answer to President and CEO Tom Halverson, highlighting his significant contributions\. Halverson praised Burke’s expertise and leadership. Burke succeeds David Burlage, bringing a new perspective to the role. CoBank, headquartered outside Denver, Colorado, supports rural America with a range of financial services and is part of the nationwide Farm Credit System.
