BlackBerry has announced significant changes in its finance leadership, appointing Tim Foote as the new Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Foote, who joined BlackBerry following its acquisition of Good Technology in 2015, brings over 20 years of experience in senior finance roles. His extensive background includes managing the company’s international finance operations and serving as Vice President of Investor Relations. Most recently, he was the CFO for BlackBerry's cybersecurity division. Foote will now report directly to CEO John Giamatteo. This appointment comes as part of BlackBerry's strategic initiative to streamline its finance organization and establish two distinct divisions: Cybersecurity and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Foote succeeds Steve Rai, who has decided to pursue opportunities outside of the company. Rai will remain with BlackBerry until September in a consulting capacity to ensure a smooth transition. CEO John J. Giamatteo expressed confidence in Foote's ability to lead the finance team. "Tim’s deep knowledge of BlackBerry’s business, strong relationship with the investment community, and demonstrated leadership made him an ideal choice for the task ahead," Giamatteo stated. Foote expressed enthusiasm about partnering with the executive team to deliver greater shareholder value.
