Ginkgo Bioworks announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Mark Dmytruk, will step down from his role to pursue an opportunity at another organization. Steven Coen, the current Chief Accounting Officer, will assume the role of CFO effective upon Dmytruk’s departure. Coen joined Ginkgo on May 1, 2023, bringing over 30 years of experience in public accounting and corporate finance. His previous roles include Corporate Vice President and Controller at Charles River Laboratories, and leadership positions in the technology and medical device sectors, along with a 17-year tenure in Deloitte & Touche LLP’s audit practice. A Certified Public Accountant, Coen holds degrees in accounting and management from Bentley University.
Ginkgo CEO Jason Kelly expressed appreciation for Dmytruk’s contributions and welcomed Coen’s appointment, citing his experience and familiarity with the company. Dmytruk reflected positively on his time at Ginkgo, expressing confidence in Coen’s ability to lead the finance team forward. Coen acknowledged the groundwork laid by Dmytruk, especially in the company’s ongoing cost reduction efforts and its goal to reach Adjusted EBITDA breakeven by the end of 2026. He said, "I've greatly enjoyed working with Mark over the past two years and am ready to build upon the financial vision and strategy he has laid out."
