Waymo announced that Steve Fieler will join the company as its new Chief Financial Officer, marking a significant step as the company scales its autonomous ride-hailing operations. The appointment comes at a critical stage in Waymo’s expansion across the U.S. and international markets. Fieler brings nearly three decades of financial and operational experience, spanning early-stage ventures and large enterprises. His most recent role at Google placed him on the CFO leadership team, where he served as Vice President across Planning, BizOps, Investments, and Investor Relations. He also previously acted as Business Finance Officer for Google’s Platforms and Ecosystems division, supporting major products such as Android and Chrome.
Before joining Google, Fieler served as CFO of HP and held leadership roles in private equity, early-stage companies, and General Electric. Waymo stated that his broad background gives him insight into both complex technology ecosystems and the financial structures required for large-scale growth. As the company accelerates the rollout of its autonomous ride-hailing service, leadership expects Fieler’s financial discipline to support its long-term plans. Waymo plans to formally welcome him in December 2025 as it continues building the foundation for its next phase of expansion.
