Berkshire Hathaway Names Charles Chang as Next Chief Financial Officer

Berkshire Hathaway has appointed Charles C. Chang as its next Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective June 1, 2026. Chang will be based in Omaha and will assume responsibility for overseeing the company’s financial operations, reporting, and capital management. Chang will work closely with current CFO Marc D. Hamburg during a one-year transition period to ensure stability and consistency across the company’s finance function.

Chang currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, a role he has held since 2024. Before joining Berkshire Hathaway Energy, he was a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he advised large public companies on financial reporting, accounting matters, and mergers and acquisitions. He brings more than three decades of experience working with complex organizations and managing financial oversight at scale. Chang’s background in public company reporting and transactions positions him to support Berkshire Hathaway’s decentralized structure and disciplined financial approach. His appointment signals a continued focus on careful financial management, internal controls, and long-term value creation, areas that remain central to the company’s operating model.
