Meta and NextEra Expand Large-Scale Clean Energy Projects Across the U.S.

NextEra Energy Resources and Meta have signed clean energy agreements totalling about 2.5 gigawatts across 13 project sites in the U.S. These contracts include 11 power purchase agreements and two energy storage agreements that will support Meta’s aim to operate on 100% clean energy. Most of the capacity, up to 2.1 gigawatts, will come from nine solar projects across Texas, the Southwest Power Pool region, and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator market. The remaining capacity will be delivered through projects in New Mexico, providing 190 megawatts of solar power and 168 megawatts of battery storage, with all projects scheduled to come online between 2026 and 2028.

The agreement will bring clear social and economic benefits to local communities. The construction and operation of these facilities are expected to create up to 2,440 jobs, supporting workers and small businesses in host regions. The added solar and battery systems will also improve grid stability, helping ensure reliable electricity for homes, schools, and hospitals as energy demand rises. By investing in large-scale clean energy infrastructure, NextEra and Meta are reducing emissions while supporting long-term energy security in the U.S. The agreements build on nearly 500MW of operating capacity Meta already supports through prior contracts with NextEra.
