eBay Charts Clear Path Toward Sustainable Commerce and Net Zero Future

eBay has introduced its first Climate Transition Plan, outlining how the company plans to reduce emissions while building on its existing resale marketplace. The company has already achieved a 92% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2019 and now operates on 100% renewable electricity. By strengthening its recommerce model, eBay enables millions of buyers and sellers to extend the life of products, reduce waste, and make more conscious purchasing decisions. This approach not only lowers environmental impact but also improves affordability and access, supporting communities and small businesses.

eBay aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2045 while continuing to drive positive change across its value chain. The company is collaborating with logistics providers and partners to expand low-carbon delivery options and reduce transportation emissions, benefiting both the environment and the efficiency of commerce systems. The plan ultimately ties climate action more closely to how the business operates, linking long-term emissions goals to the continued growth of a platform built around reuse.
