CVS Health has appointed Brian Newman as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Designate. He will formally assume the CFO role on May 12, as Tom Cowhey transitions into a strategic advisory role to President and CEO David Joyner. Newman brings over 30 years of finance leadership. He most recently served as CFO of United Parcel Service, where he played a central role in navigating the company through the COVID-19 pandemic. Before UPS, he spent more than two decades at PepsiCo, where he led finance teams across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. He also held senior global roles in operations and corporate strategy. “It is an honor to join CVS Health at such a critical moment in health care,” said Newman. “I look forward to contributing to our growth and supporting our clients and communities.”
CVS Health also named Dr. Amy Compton-Phillips as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, effective May 19. The company expects to meet or exceed its full-year 2025 financial guidance based on results through February. It stated that final numbers could change following completion of first-quarter financial closing procedures, final adjustments, and management’s review. Joyner expressed confidence in the new leaders. “Brian and Amy bring valuable expertise that aligns with our strategy to deliver better health outcomes.” By naming Newman as CFO, CVS Health reinforces its financial leadership while continuing to strengthen its executive team to meet the demands of a developing healthcare environment.
