Google Signs Long-Term Agreement to Enable 150 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan

ReNew Energy Global has partnered with Google to develop a 150 megawatt (MW) solar project in Rajasthan, India, scheduled for 2026. The project is expected to generate 425,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity each year, enough to supply over 360,000 households. Google said clean, affordable electricity is central to its growth ambitions, and the agreement is designed to bring new solar capacity onto the grid while supporting progress on value chain emissions.

Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Co-Founder and Chairperson of Sustainability at ReNew, said, “Long-term agreements of this kind are catalytic, they enable new renewable capacity, support India’s energy transition, and help global companies meet ambitious sustainability commitments.” The project also expands ReNew’s clean energy portfolio to 2.7 gigawatts (GW), enabling more people to access reliable and sustainable electricity.

Beyond powering homes, the initiative supports job creation and economic growth in the region. Vrushali Gaud, Google’s Global Director of Climate Operations, said, “This novel agreement with ReNew is a critical strategic step; it brings new solar capacity onto the grid in a key region, and helps address challenging portions of our value chain emissions.”

The announcement also points to ReNew’s SBTi-aligned pathway toward net-zero emissions by 2040, supported by increased renewable energy use, operational efficiency, and value chain decarbonization, and positions corporate procurement agreements as one mechanism for adding new clean energy capacity to the national grid.
