A new collaboration between Kellanova, Walmart, and Indigo Ag is bringing additional resources to Arkansas rice farmers working to adopt regenerative agriculture. Through Indigo’s Source program, growers gain access to technical support, data tools, and a performance-based premium for rice produced with practices that improve soil health and water stewardship.
The initiative builds on earlier work between Walmart and Indigo, which has already helped participating farmers cut emissions, conserve billions of gallons of water, and receive supplemental income tied to environmental outcomes. With Kellanova joining the effort, the program expands both its reach and its ability to reward farmers for practices that make their operations more resilient.
For growers navigating volatile input costs, rising climate pressures, and inconsistent market conditions, the program offers a path to both economic stability and long-term land improvement. Farmers are compensated for measures such as water-efficient irrigation, targeted fertilizer use, and crop rotations that support healthier soils and more predictable yields. The partners track progress across shared acreage, giving communities clear visibility into local water savings, emissions reductions, and soil gains. The expanded initiative brings additional resources to farmers and rural communities, offering practical support for the long-term strength of Arkansas’s rice economy.
