The institutional asset management division of MetLife, MetLife Investment Management (MIM), announced the launch of its second private equity fund, MetLife Investment Private Equity Partners II, on July 8, 2024. This initiative follows the effective completion of approximately $1.2 billion in commitments to a new fund-of-funds managed by MIM. The new fund acquired a portfolio worth approximately $860 million in private equity and equity co-investment interests, with total commitments amounting to $975 million. This transaction was part of a managed secondary sale anchored by funds managed by Lexington Partners L.P., serving as the lead investor.
MetLife Investment Management, with over 150 years of investment experience, manages a diverse range of assets, including public fixed income, private capital, and real estate investments, totaling $593.7 billion as of March 31, 2024. The firm provides tailored investment solutions to institutional investors globally. Lexington Partners, one of the world’s largest managers of secondary private equity and co-investment funds, partnered with MIM on this transaction. With over $76 billion in total capital and a global presence, Lexington has been a pioneer in the institutional secondary market for over 30 years.
