S&P Global has entered into a strategic collaboration with Cambridge Associates and Mercer to develop comprehensive private markets performance analytics, scheduled to launch in beta by late 2025. Built on S&P Global’s iLEVEL portfolio monitoring platform, the initiative will provide aggregated and anonymized insights into fund performance, fundraising activity, and deal analytics.
The solution aims to address long-standing challenges of fragmented data and inconsistent reporting across private markets, creating a unified data ecosystem for General Partners and Limited Partners. Cambridge Associates and Mercer, as strategic clients of S&P Global, will utilize the platform for client portfolio analysis and data collection, enabling fund performance comparisons, reduced reporting complexity, and more consistent benchmarking across asset classes.
This collaboration introduces a new classification system for private market funds and investments, reflecting how the industry operates today. By centralizing data exchange through iLEVEL, the system will allow more detailed categorization of funds, assets, and deals, enhancing comparability and performance trend analysis. Leaders from the three organizations highlighted that this initiative will reduce administrative burdens while providing investors with clearer insights for decision-making.
